Members of Forget Me Not Cafe in Stogursey enjoy Summer outing courtesy of SPS

Somerset Passenger Solutions were delighted to provide the transport for members of the Stogursey Forget Me Not Cafe for their Summer outing

22 members of the Forget-Me-Not Café, including carers and volunteer helpers and organisers, enjoyed a fantastic outing to Doniford Farm Park near Minehead courtesy of Somerset Passenger Solutions and Hinkley Point C on 20th July 2022.

The Forget Me Not Cafe in Stogursey provides support and companionship to those who are recognising issues with their memory, as well as their carers, family and friends.

The members were picked up by SPS Driver Jim Treadaway and Tours, Events and Excursions Lead Nick Hutt at 10:30 on 20th July. There was much laughter and excitement as they all boarded the bus and were asked to show their tickets.

The bus was loaded including a few wheelchairs and walking aids (thank goodness for the access ramps on our busses), and much happy chatter ensued as the bus trundled it’s way through the lanes to Doniford Farm Park.

The party alighted the bus and really enjoyed a happy day seeing the various animals and browsing in the shop.  The day was thankfully quite cool after the recent extreme heat.

Lunch was served to everyone by the charming staff at the Farm Park and a Happy 92nd Birthday sung to one of the Café members.

This was a highly enjoyable and  heart-warming day out and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces. Rose (from the Forget Me Not Cafe) explained that the trip would not have been possible without the support from Somerset Passenger Solutions and Hinkley Point C. She said the  group will be chatting about the trips for weeks.

The Forget-Me-Not Café received a Community Award from Somerset County Council last year in recognition of the tremendous work they do to provide a social and supportive group for the elderly in the Stogursey community and, importantly, their carers.

Working with the team at Hinkley Point C, Somerset Passenger Solutions were delighted to be involved in the trip. We are committed to supporting the communities we operate in. We look forward to our next community adventure.
