Working as part of one of the biggest construction projects in Europe we have some fantastic opportunities to join our driver’s community as a Trainee Bus/ Coach driver and drive state of the art coaches/ buses transporting staff and suppliers to and from Hinkley Point C power station.

As part of your induction you will go through our first-class academy where our experts will provide you with all the tools you need to be a success. Not only will they be by your side during the academy, but they will also provide ongoing support, development and training throughout your career. We really do have some of the best to learn from!

We currently transport over 4,000 people per day to and from site, working 24 hours a day to ensure that construction remains on schedule.  Our fleet of over 100 modern buses and coaches use advanced tracking and telematics to ensure we deliver the best possible service for clients and customers.

At Somerset Passenger Solutions, Customer Service is at the heart of everything we do to ensure we provide our passengers with the best service possible, therefore we provide all our drivers with the opportunity to study for a Certificate in Principles of Customer Service which is a recognised qualification.

A summary of benefits:

  • Fully paid training provided for your PCV/PSV licence and CPC training at £9.46 per hour
  • Pay once qualified – £10.94 per hour increasing to £11.23 per hour after 6 months and £12.53 after 12 months

Hours of work:

HPC is a 24/7 operation.  Start times can be early, eg from 0300hrs onwards and later shifts finishing up to 2200hrs.  Saturdays and Sundays are classed as normal working days. Therefore flexibility is a key requirement!

Please note – All employees must be willing to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and obtain a DBS certificate. This standard is designed to provide a level of assurance as to the honesty, integrity and values of individuals who are required to work at a Nuclear Licenced Site, or who may have access to sensitive nuclear information.
