Success at SPS is driven by our team; we are first and foremost a people business. We recruit positive, flexible and friendly staff to ensure that our customers have the best possible experience on their way to and from work. We pride ourselves on great customer service, punctuality and adaptability, helping our customers to get to the right place at the right time and achieve great things on the Project.
Driver, controller, working in the office or a manager, everyone works together as one team to deliver fantastic results.
We strongly encourage feedback, and recognise and reward our staff. Any questions, queries or suggestions can be raised at weekly meetings or on dedicated feedback forms, and this feedback is sent directly to the executive team for discussion and response. We encourage two-way communication between all staff to ensure that issues are dealt with quickly and great ideas are implemented.
Working for Somerset Passenger Solutions is your chance to be part of the largest construction project in Europe. If that isn’t enough, we also commit to providing all staff with further development and training during their time at the business. Our teams now have access to nationally accredited distance learning courses with Bridgwater and Taunton College, ensuring our teams are trained to the highest possible standards and that we leave a legacy of highly trained and skilled staff after the Project is completed. Our teams also receive regular job chats or appraisals, and given the rapid growth of the business there are many opportunities to step up into supervisor and office roles.
You don’t need to have a bus driving license to apply. Drivers can earn their Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) Licence through SPS, at no additional cost to them, providing they continue to drive for two years after joining the business. This licence is great for your CV and can be used anywhere in the UK.
We’re also looking towards the future. Although the HPC construction is expected to continue until the mid-2020s, SPS are looking to leave a legacy in the local area, as well as expand into other construction projects across the country, including the UK’s next nuclear project, Sizewell C. We’ll create a group of highly-trained, motivated and employable staff in the South West ready for the next step in their careers.
