Tell us a bit about yourself and your role?
I am one of three HR Support Managers that work at SPS. I believe that we are the conscience of the business ensuring decisions are right for the people, our business and our client. We are the trusted, valued experts in terms of employment legislation and people really are at the heart of everything we do!
Day to day I am responsible for overseeing employee relations cases, providing guidance and support to colleagues, building the capability of our management team through training and coaching, supporting with company initiatives and projects to make support making SPS a great place to work and engaging with colleagues to continue to build and shape our culture.
In our department we have the privilege of working with everyone in the business, no matter what role or function, there is always the opportunity to build relationships and share knowledge.
I have 20 years experience working in the HR industry working within the retail, aviation and security sector. Each sector has been totally different yet an incredible experience and I am now loving the exposure to the transport industry. There is so much to learn!
Outside of work I live with my husband Kris and daughter Jessica. We love family time, playing games, going for walks – anything really where we can spend time together as although Jessica is only 7 she is growing so fast and Mum and Dad won’t always be so cool!
What are some of your career highlights?
I have been very lucky and thoroughly loved my career so far including 19 years as a HR Manager for Tesco and 2 years as a HR Manager at the airport. I have enjoyed and been a part of so many experiences.
What does life at SPS mean to you?
Life at SPS is ‘Something Pretty Special’ – everyday is a challenge, everyday there is something to learn, everyday gives me the opportunity to hopefully help make a difference to someone else’s day. Everyone is busy yet one thing that always stands out is how we all look out for each other no matter what. We all have a real passion and desire for our roles and for making SPS the best place for our colleagues.
